How much does chip seal cost vs. asphalt?
It varies with size, prep, and access, but chip seal typically runs about half the cost of asphalt paving. That's exactly why it's so popular for long rural driveways. We'll give you an exact price after we see the job in person — for free.
How long does it last?
A properly installed chip seal driveway lasts roughly 7–10 years, and you can refresh it with another coat down the road for far less than repaving. The stone surface actually gets tighter as you drive on it.
Is it good for steep mountain driveways?
Yes — the crushed-stone surface gives better traction than smooth asphalt, especially when it's wet or icy. It's a big reason chip seal is used on so many back roads around here.
Will it hold up to our winters?
Chip seal flexes with the ground better than a rigid asphalt slab, so it handles freeze-and-thaw without the big cracks and potholes you see in asphalt.
How long does the job take?
Most residential driveways are done in one to two days, and you can usually drive on it the same day we finish.
Why don't you quote a price online?
Because an honest price needs a real look. Grade, length, drainage, and base condition all change the number. We come out, measure it, and give you a straight quote in person, for free — no online lowball that changes later.
